here is a recent group of photos of Pilar, look how cute she is! she is really changing and becoming a lot more active. she can now roll from her back to her tummy, and loves laying on her tummy sucking and chewing on her toys.

miami, adios

Here is pilar with some of her cuban relatives, tio Juanka, primo Kanky, abuela Lely, prima Mirlay. Needless to say, everyone fell in love with our little Pili. As grandma Sharen likes to call her Pilar the Star!

mommy time

here we are in Miami enjoying some quiet time together in the backyard of Sergio's aunt's house. it felt great to be somewhere warm and sunny. Pilar really enjoyed looking at and touching all the plants in the backyard, listening to birds, and feeling a warm breeze on her face (she hates wind, lol). a nice time to remember, in addition, she was a dream on all our flights, she never cried once, we are really lucky, she's a very happy little person! 

mi abuelita

here is Pilar with her abuela (grandma) Lely. Lely has been in Miami with her family for a few months, and was so happy to finally meet her granddaughter, su nieta! Pilar and Lely spent time going for walks, reading Dora the explorer, and having baths. 

tio julio

Pilar was delighted to finally meet her uncle Julio, Sergio's twin brother. She spent a lot of time looking from one to the other trying to figure out why some weird guy looks like dad! We had a great time spending time with him again after four long years. Too bad he lives so far away in Spain.

Pilar takes a bath with mom and grandma Lely at tia Antia's house on the dining room table. Everyone has really enjoyed watching her take her evening bath, and Lely has really enjoyed participating for the first time in Pilar's care, she's a very proud grandma, abuela in spanish.

miami happy

here we are enjoying ourselves in miami, not that you can tell from this photo we are in miami, we could be anywhere, but we are actually in tia antia's house. pilar has enjoyed meeting everyone and has been generally pretty content and cute. she cried a lot the night we arrived after a long day of traveling and meeting a lot of new faces. otherwise she has been a delight and the focus of everyone's attention.

here is Pilar modeling some hand-me-downs from Nicole while I packed for our trip to Miami. Nicole sent us a huge bag of clothes from her daughters, and lucky for us there were lots of summery clothes, perfect for Miami weather, around 27 degrees...awesome!

christmas day

here we all are, the whole gang at my mom's place. we had a great dinner, and lots of fun opening gifts most of which were for pilar. she got two nice outfits from her aunty heather and aunty robyn, a jolly jumper from santa, an ugly doll and mr. messy book from robyn, clothes from bruce and janet, and a floor play mat from grandma and grandpa. next year will certainly be more interesting when she is more aware of what christmas is. 

christmas eve

we spent christmas eve at my mom and mark's, this is pilar's first christmas. the tree looked great, robyn and mike brought over lasagna, and we opened some gifts. too bad the weather was so bad, the roads were a mess. sergio and I stayed over at my mom's to avoid a tricky drive home. 

update

hi from miami everyone! it has taken a while to get anything posted here, we had a great christmas in vancouver with my family and pilar got some great gifts, a highlight is definitely the jolly jumper, which she seams to love! after christmas with my family we packed up to head here to miami to be with sergio's family who hasn't met pilar yet. we have been enjoying our time here in beautiful sunny weather. I will now post a bunch of photos and updates.

ho ho ho

yesterday we took Pilar to meet santa for the first time! we went to kingsgate mall near our house and we were his only visitors at the time so we walked right in. Pilar wasn't afraid of him at all, and was quite relaxed and comfortable sitting with santa, as you can see she is holding his finger! Next year might be a different story, but for now at 3 1/2 months old, she is blissfully unaware that she is about to received tons of great presents from all the santas in her life. merry christmas baby doll!

tea party

last week Pilar hosted her first tea party! almost everyone who attended her baby shower made it to her tea party, and a few more. There was stella, anna lisa with bridgit and jet, susan with madeline and olivia, grandma sharen, aunty robyn, wendy, kate, candra, barbie, and mom! we enjoyed so many nice sweets and savaries, and stella's awesome homemade chai. let's do it again in the new year and hopefully the few who couldn't make it this time will be able to come next time! thanks guys!

peace on earth
